How to make a ponytail

Ponytails, first of all let me explain this is not rocket science, it's actually easy to do. For the best results your child's hair should be at least shoulder length or longer. Although this can be done on short, bobbed, or even layered hair but in these cases you will not get all the hair up into a ponytail, which can look cute on little girls.

First you will need a comb to part(split the hair into two sections) the hair if you want even ponytails on either side of the head.

Step 1
Standing over your child's head look down at her nose and take the first tooth of the comb and drag it back along the scalp in one stroke, lightly, until you reach the back hairline.

Step 2
Now take a brush and brush each section of hair on either side of her head towards where you want the ponytail to be.

Problem with combing out hair
If you have a problem combing out your kid's hair because of tangles when it is either wet or dry, this is a good idea. Always start at the ends of the hair and comb out slowly and as you untangle the hair move up the hair-shaft until you are at the roots and have the whole head of hair untangled and ready to either dry or cut. Now after you have brushed all the hair and have all the tangles out

Step 3
Gather it together one side at a time and secure it with a covered elastic. Repeat this action on the other side. Either low and close to the ear for the traditional looking ponytail or higher up for a more Pippi Longstocking look. This makes it much easier and more acurate using the ear as a guide so the ponytails are equal.

Or

Gather all the hair at once, after making sure all the tangles are out and place one ponytail anywhere on the head you want. Just make sure when you brush the hair you direct it to the location where you want the ponytail to be. Now you can have some fun with the ponytails you have created.

TIP
Use ribbons or wool for a more decorative look. You can even use beads for a little sparkle. make it fun for your child to make the decision about which accessories she wants.

little secrets

These are a couple of little secrets you may or may not know about hair

Add Shine
1. Add a healthy shiny to your hair, try adding 1 or 2 tablespoons of vinegar to the final rinse when washing hair. Dry as usual with a towel, naturally or with a blow dryer.

Add Body
2. If you want to give hair body. Before the final rinse, Pour enough beer onto your head to soak your hair, not a whole bottle (LOL) over hair, massage thoroughly into hair and scalp then give a final rinse.

Hair Health

First of all, shampoo and cream rinse, there is a misconception about cream rinse, especially. Cream rinse only makes it easier to comb hair, it doesn't do much for the overall heath of it, other than making it easier to comb and therefore causing less breakage. You would need to add heat to the scalp with a towel for at least 15 minutes. This opens up the cuticles of the hair so it can accept the moisture and benefits from any cream rinse or conditioner.
Now shampoo, that�s a different story. Most shampoo that you get in any drug store is full of harmful soap and the only ones I have found to be any good are the "no more tears" kind that Johnson and Johnson make for kids.

The best method for dealing with frizzy hair

In this fall/winter wet weather esspecially if your hair has even the slightest wave or curl, it's susceptible to being frizzy. When towel drying your hair, resist rubbing or creating any sort of friction. The best method for drying frizzy hair is to use a hand towel and squeeze the hair up from ends to roots.

The Myth about hair cuts

If you have heard that by leaving your hair without a haircut allows it grow faster, think again.....
That is a myth, when you leave your hair without trimming it, the ends of each hair shaft will eventually split, causing it to end up shorter in reality and appearance. It is very important to get the ends trimmed at least every couple of months while growing your hair so it will grow to be healthy and beautiful.
